Raise the Bar Challenge #42

The challenge this week at Raise the Bar is to use a vehicle on your card. My stepmom actually inked this stamp by Galorie Vernissage for Inkadinkado and brought it to me recently. Isn't it great? I love that it has that fantastic message already in there!! It definately made the layout of this card a breeze! I've been wanting to use that piece of ribbon for awhile now. I don't even remember where I picked it up. It's really wide and I still have a little bit left.. so you may be seeing it again before the end of autumn ; )

It's a fun week over at Digi Doodle Shop's Best!! This week it's "Anything Goes"!! Woo-hoo..l love these kind of challenges.  I've been wanting to color this image for awhile. It makes me think of my mom. Not because of the pie.. lol. My mom doesn't bake, well not pies.  She loves geraniums!! We always had huge pots of them during the summer. In the falls we would go apple picking in one of the orchards not far from here. We would have apples coming out of our ears!! So, this is for mom... awwww ; )

It's friday so of course that means that I played with one of my images from Mo's Digital Pencil overnight!! Her challenges post on Thursdays and I always wait to see what the challenge is before I start. This week the challenge is "Fall Colors".

Aren't those colors just gorgeous? That paper is from K&Company and I just love how it's orange and muted at the same time.

I'd buy apples from her.. what about you? My family used to go apple picking in the fall when I was a kid so for me, apples and fall go hand in hand!

Raise the Bar Challenge #41

The challenge this week at Raise The Bar is purple, black and orange. Of course, your mind runs right to Halloween.. right? But I've been wanting to ink this image for awhile now. And you'll never guess where I got her!! Google free coloring images.. you will be so amazed.  You will find lots of Art Noveau images and I just think she's grand. I always knew I wanted to do her veil with the sun shining through it. I don't know how successful that turned out but I like it. 
 The background is my own technique I discovered because I wanted to play with the Alcohol Ink backgrounds made famous by Tim Holtz but cost is always a factor. So I tried it with my Copics. I am sure I am not the first person to discover this but I personally have never seen a video on it so I thought I would share. You can find it here, you'll just have to scroll down. I added the silver by adding drops of Silver Pigment Reinker.

Josh's Halloween Card and a Freebie

I don't do scary.. so I thought this was adorable.. especially since my grandson is only 14 months! My daughter just told us they had gotten him a vampire costume. I think this is actually "Batman" but.. it works!

Do I hear an "Awwww!"? I know!! It's going to kill us that they are in Texas and we won't be able to spend it with them.

Got to love Glossy Accents!! I just cut that out of this awesome paper (K&Company Halloween by Tim Coffey) and added Glossy Accents and pop dotted it!  And I am going to add below the file I created for that Word Art sentiment. It's the perfect size to cut out with a 1 1/4" round punch and layer with your smallest scallop nestie (or scallop, round punch).

My grandson's really a blonde like his "PaPa" (they prounounce it Paw Paw) but with this little bit showing I didn't do it blonde. (He doesn't actually have fangs either.. lol)

And here's the Word Art I used here. There's 3 Halloween circles and some Christmas stuff. I love playing with all sorts of media.

This is a test of the emergency broadcast system..lol. I obviously edited my blog layout if you've been here before. I am having a hard time getting everything where I want so I guess I will be spending some time playing with this today. Let me know what you think. There are so many great sites I love but color is an issue for me. I have a lot of problems with eyestrain so I can't have a solid white background. I'm liking this one so far.. but I am a person who LOVES, LOVES, LOVES color. I am hoping this won't get boring to me.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Sketch Challenge

Sugar!!

I am a diabetic so I can just imagine that she is converting these all to sugar free with her little wand.. lmao!!  Having been room mother to all three kids for more years than I care to remember it just had to have the obligatory Halloween cupcake!! If you look real close you can see I added black sprinkles by cutting a few scraps from my MS scallop punch. The trash part of the punch makes perfect sprinkles!!
 I just adore Maureens art!! You can find this along with so many others you won't be able to chose just one at Mo's Digital Pencil. I actually won this image in Mo's blog hop but had also just purchased two other images so it was a real toss up which one I wanted to make today. This one won out because I really wanted to play with the Alcohol Ink background in pinks. If you haven't seen my tutorial on using your Copics to create your own AI bg's you can find it up at the top under tutorials or in the sidebar. What I adore about using my Copics this way is I can take the EXACT color I used in my images to create my BG papers. How COOL is that?? Look how perfect it matches here little tutu! Oh... and here's a close up of that adorable outfit!!

For the sentiment I added a little metallic pink seed bead on the "i" .

Raise the Bar Challenge #40

Get a hobby!! No.. that's not a command.. lol. That's the challenge this week at Raise the Bar, any card showing an activity. It could be hiking, golfing, sewing, shopping ....oohh... I see some light bulbs going off ; )
This adorable image from Sassy Studios is stamping. I think I had as much fun making the little tiny card she is holding in her hand, if not more, than I had making the whole card. She decided to distress her little card (yes.. I actually distressed the edges of that lil' tiny card!!), stamped a swirl bg and she even pulled out her Martha Stewart butterfly punch. All while wearing her apron and not making a mess anywhere. Yea.. right! If you could see what I look like when I am hanging out in my craftroom!! Sweats, T-shirts, no make-up, hair in a ponytail....I LOVE IT!!

I put a pop dot on the inside of the card to hold it somewhat closed. Otherwise it kept wanting to swing open much more. It worked like a charm!

I just got this in the mail yesterday. Here's an unsolicited  plug for Addicted to Rubber Stamps (that link will take you directly to this product) they are awesome. I make quite a few online purchases and this is one of my favorite sites. I received this box along with another package from another site which I won't name. The other package had no invoice, no thank you.. just the product. I usually get more than that when I order from an individual on ebay!! My box from Addicted to Rubber stamps? OMG!! A 12x12 piece of free designer paper, a 8x10 piece of free "Happy Halloween" paper, a sheet of free Penny Black stickers, 4 pieces of candy just as a "thank you" on top of all the marvelous products I ordered on late Friday night.. and received Tuesday!! Plus they have the most awesome wish list feature of any site I've been to. (My wish list has about 100 items!!)

Free Ledger Paper, Post Card and more!

I've had this ledger paper on my computer for awhile and completely forgot about it. A lot of my background stamps don't work as well now that I am not usually making standard size cards. I work with a LOT of digi images so I've just been making the card size to fit the size I want the digi.

 I was going to upload this ledger paper last night and wanted to give credit to the person I downloaded it from. I never found this actual ledger paper but I did find lots more at these two sites INCLUDING postcards, full pages of script (some french), antique frames that are gorgeous in beautiful colors and so much more. Penny Black Christmas

I made this to play along in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. It's one of the challenges I try to get in every week.. which is sort of a challenge for me because I only own about 5 PB stamps. That is sure to change quickly though because I just ordered two multi stamp clear sets.. cannot wait!!!

Altered Truvia Box

Warning.. there's going to be a lot of pics.. lol!

I am a very visual learner so pictures speak volumes to me.  I've had this empty Truvia box sitting on my desk for months waiting to be converted into something beautiful. I really need a safe place to store my colored Copic images. All I need is to spill coffee on one that's done.. huh? The Truvia box is the ideal size to store most of the images I color. It's 4 1/2" by 5" by 3" deep. First step was to give it a coat of Gesso.

This was just the first coat. I think I ended up giving it three coats total. I don't have any pics of the panels in progress.  I just measured and cut two layers for each panel. I crumpled up the off white panels before I distressed and stamped to really give it an old world feel. I used three different stamp sets I've had since this summer and this is the first time I've actually used them!! Sorry, I don't know the makers. (If you recognize them please leave a comment )
The distressing was all done with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Broken China and Peeled Paint. Here's a close up of the Globe that was popped up on the frame for the front of the box.

The actual stamping was done with Memento Coco Brown. Aren't those two shade of TH inks together just glorious?? It almost looks like aged copper. It was a Oopsy discovery from a challenge at Splitcoaststampers last week. I didn't realize I had two different colors on my sponge when I went to distress the card I was working on. Now I think it's my fav color combo!!
And last but not least.. here's my crafting tip of the day, or week.. lol. I just love passing on things I know work for me ; )

The salesperson at one of my local craft shops (For Keepsake) turned me onto this earlier this week and this is the first project I've used it on. OMG!! It is awesome!! It literally grabs as quick as a glue gun. Last night I played with some flowers (you know the ones, where you cut off the petals.. here's a great tutorial at Splitcoaststampers). I didn't have to clamp the flowers or anything to let them dry. My only suggestion is to play with this glue before you use it on a really special project. It has a different texture and does tend to string a bit, especially when you first use it. By no means is that a deterrent.. it is too FAB!! It just takes a little getting used to.
