Monochromatic Christmas

When I saw this challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge I figured "what the heck.. I'll give it a go!" Little did I know I spent almost twice the time coloring this image as I normally do.. lol. I always have my fav "go to" colors in my Copics so suddenly when you have to use all in one family it makes each section a little more thought out. But who's complaining? Not me.. I'd rather be coloring than just about anything else! So here's the results:

I just love this image. She just seems so deep and thought and on a mission of some sort.  

I am usually a Copic purist meaning I don't like to add anything.. but I must admit, I have been playing more and more with adding colored pencils.  (yes.. still using my "RoseArt" cheapies!! gasp!) I have to tell you though, I do own a few prismas and I do not like adding the Ordorless Mineral Spirits. I feel like it spreads the pencil out to much no matter how fine of a point I have on the paper stump. I am sure it is user error and I just need more practice. But if something is that frustrating for me then it is no longer fun. So my own process is working for me. I just use the side of the pencil or a super sharp point to lay in more pronounced lines.

Digi Doodle Shop Best Challenge DDSB#35

First off, if you are in the States then Happy Thanksgiving!! This is a pre-scheduled post so while you read this I am probably elbow deep in flour or a turkey. And if you are swinging by later in the week I am probably trying to be really creative with all those leftovers!!
I hope some time in the next week you'll be able to come join our challenge!
The challenge this week at Digi Doodle Shop's Best is "Red and Green". I am especially thrilled to share this weeks card with you because Judy had asked to let her know if any of us on the Design Team had requests. I piped right up!! I had been looking for a good Poinsettia stamp and wow!! Am I glad I waited for this fantastic image!!

Isn't that image just grand?? It's so easy to make a great card when you start with this calibur of artwork!  Here's a close up shot of the different elevations:

I had a rant a couple of weeks ago about how the nesties on this set (Label 17) do not cut out great borders in a nestie fashion. But WOW!! Do they cut out great frames or what?!!
I totally cased my card from this wonderful artist, Judy Hayes.  I saw her card on Splitcoaststampers and it literally took my breath away. I just adored it.

Raise The Bar DT Card

What a fitting theme we have for you at Raise the Bar this week and that is to be "Grateful". I have so much to be grateful for and I pray you do too!

I've told you guys before that I used to be a florist so Thanksgiving was a time to make a LOT of cornucopias as well as other centerpieces. Coloring this beautiful image from Northwoods was just as satisfying to create.

2nd Week Guest DT at ATS

Ok, I've said it before and I will say it again, and again, and again..lol. I love CC Designs available at All That Scraps, and I am deeply honored to be their guest DT this month. Here's both of my cards that were posted yesterday:

This is the Sweet November Darby image. I used snowflake vellum over aqua cs. It really looses it's impact in these pics but in real life it looks so frosty and cool!! The sentiment was printed on the 'puter and I just added Glossy Accents and GlamourDust to the tops. You can find the font here. It is called Almonte Snow. The snowflake is just a wingbat. The snowflakes were cut with Spellbinders and accented with light blue/aqua ink, Glossy Accents and Glamour Dust.

Here's the 2nd card:

 This is Cookie Emma. I think she is a favorite of ALL Sugarplum fans! Again, the sentiment was created on my computer. That font is called Angelica and you can download it here.

The label was cut out using my Digital Scrapbook Artist  program. There is a free version of the program, you just can't use a lot of the features like editing photos but the elements are all accessible. You can try the free version
here.

Ladybug Crafts Ink - Christmas Sparkle

You are Loved!

That's the sentiment on this card. I started making this card for the challenge at Copic Creations because I wanted to "play" with the technique of paper piecing using a digi. I used a digi image from A Day for Daisies. As it evolved with the butterflies and seniment it is now a card for my daughter just to let her know how much she means to me. I don't think any of us truly realize how much our moms love us 'til we have children of our own. Then we begin to understand all the nights they walked the floors with us when we were teething, when we were sick and as we got older, nursed our broken hearts. Now that she's a mom herself I think she will finally understand what it means when a mom says "I love you".

I stamped the butterfly (she loves them.. always has!!)  on vellum with Staz-On and then colored it on the reverse side with my Copics.

Digi Doodle Shop Best Challenge DDSB#33

The challenge this week at Digi Doodle Shop's Best is "Don't Forget our Men". Now..come on. I can almost hear you groaning.. lol. Why do we all react that way to masculine cards?? In all honesty, I do the same thing. I've had the list of challenges and this one got pushed after all the "fun" ones. But look at this!! I am so thrilled with the way it turned out and now I am wondering why I react that way. I just love the way both layers look like license plates. That evolved as I was working on it. I have those awesome square eyelets that I've never used before. Love them!! The silver in the corners of the Sentiment layer are silver 1/2 pearls. So come on.. let's rock those man cards!! I can't wait to see what you've come up with.
