Welcome Angel

Hi everyone!! Today I have the last of my releases for the month of September. I had originally created this digi titled Angel for Christmas but it works equally well for a Welcome little one.
She was colored with copics and here's those swatches:
My papers are from Websters Pages. I punched the striped panel with my Martha Stewart Cherish punch around the page punch and then stitched it with some embroidery floss.
That is Bundle of Joy Sentiments by Raindrop Echo also available at Whimsy Stamps.
We've been having a lot of fun over at the Whimsy Stamps Facebook page.  Come on over and join us. We would love to see what you've created using Whimsy products!!

Aaarrgggh Matey

Happy day everyone! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Perfect day here, but I cannot believe this month has almost gotten away from me. Time to share the next to last of my September release for Whimsy Stamps.
This one is called Pirate: I know... right? Where do I come up with the insightful names for my stamps.... lmbo!!
I tend not to do scary for Halloween so I thought she was perfect. K, so where shall be venture to next? Copics, of course ;) Here's the swatches albeit slightly out of focus:
Since that pic is so shoddy here's another close up of just the colored image:
Love the torn edges on my papers (Apothecary by Echo Park) and distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Fired Brick.
Here's a close up of the sentiment by Raindrop Echo

These are the same frames I used on my recent tutorial on how to create ribbon slides with Shrinky Dink. If you missed that you can see it here.
I had actually intended to use that ribbon slide on this card but I just couldn't get it to look right. But it did need something on the right, so I added some twine through a button and eyelets ala Jack Sparrow:
That's all from me for today. Now to decide what sort of products to pull out... paints? inks? watercolors?

Happy Balloons

Happy Thursday everyone! One more day til hubby gets home from out of town. It never fails, as soon as he leaves something breaks down. This time it's the freezer on the fridge. The ice cubes keep melting into one huge chunk of ice but everything else is staying frozen. Nothing lasts anymore!
So how about something happy?
This is Happy Balloons from my September release for Whimsy Stamps. I'm sorry I don't have my copic swatches for this one. They somehow get lost when I do marathon coloring and she was the result of one of those. But I do have lot's of pics so buckle in and enjoy the ride =)
The pennant is also available at Whimsy Stamps. It is called Happy Things Pennant.
Just a close up of the image.
Balloons (albeit a fuzzy pink balloon, lol). You can see how I do balloons to look transparent in this video.
 Paper pieced shirt.
And I am finally using up some of those flowers I made ions ago! You can check out my tutorial page for how I make my flowers and also how I do my "dotty" background.
Thanks so much for looking. Now to scoot this little lady into some challenges.

Ribbon Slide Tutorial

Well, I've been having a pretty productive week, how about you? If you haven't seen my post from yesterday check out my chest of drawers.
This is a tutorial (video) that I started last fall before my hiatus and never did get around to completing. Are you like me though and get those, "I wonder if....." moments? Well, that's what happened to me this morning. I knew these slides worked with some of my stamped images but I wanted to try it with some digi's.  Here's what I am talking about:

All of these were created with digi stamps available at Whimsy Stamps.
You can watch how I made them in this tutorial:

Thanks for stopping by!!

Chest of Drawers

Hi everyone!! I hope everyone is having a great day! I was able to finally finish a project I started last weekend. I was inspired to make a chest of drawers (without using the die) out of chipboard after seeing my good friend Jen making her's on Ustream. You can see her tutorial and print the template on her blog here. She's also done a more recent post making one out of Designer paper and smaller drawers. I made mine slightly larger to suit my storage needs:

I painted the base with burnt umber acrylic paints, then a layer of crackle medium and dried that with my heat tool. Then I added a layer of a turquoise color paint (actual paint is Tropical Bay Blue by Ceramcoat).  I distressed the entire thing with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. I didn't like the way the actual construction showed so I covered all of those edges with washi tape. Jen's tutorial shows how you can cut  separate drawer fronts to cover those but I was out of chipboard at this point, lol.
The last finishing touch was to add the drawer pulls by Tim Holtz. I only bought as many as I needed and was frustrated when I got the packages home and opened them. It doesn't say on the package that they are assorted, which I don't mind the different colors as far as brass, copper, etc. but some of them were bright silver colored, not aged looking at all. If you look you can see one is colored up with alcohol inks until I can get to the store to buy some more.
Can't wait to fill it up with some trinkets and what not's.
Thanks so much for looking! Oh my goodness, blogger is still having fits!! So excuse any formatting issues.

Challenges:
Crafty Creations - Move it
The Sisterhood of Crafters - No Stamps
Try It On Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Craft My Life - Anything Goes (no cards or layouts)
Pin and Tack - Anything Goes (thanks for the tip Corrinne)

Poppies Collage and an ATC

What a beautiful, sunny afternoon we are having here!! I could take this weather all year round.
I started this canvas yesterday and just finished it up, or rather the glue was finally dry enough to take a pic. The poppies are collaged and then I added some black seed beads to the centers to give it more dimension.

And here's an ATC I made for a very good friend recently. I couldn't post until I knew she had received it.
Poppies have obviously been a theme for me lately. But it's been a lot of fun and I am sure they will continue to pop up in my art. My favorite color and painting flowers makes me happy :) Now I best sign off because blogger is being a bit wierd today!

How about some Froggy Kisses?

I made this card with one of my new releases at Whimsy Stamps called Froggy Kisses for my niece who just got engaged.  It has all of my fav things to color: hair, pleats and cute warty frog, lol!
 Here's a close up:

Sorry I don't have my copic swatches but I do remember mostly what I used:
Skin: E21, E00, E000, R20, R30
Dress: BG72, BG53, BG11
Hair: YR24, YR21, YR31 E99
Frog: YG67, YG63, YG61, Y08 I cannot remember what I used for the browns but I am thinking it was E29
My papers are K & Company and I just cut out some of the flowers from them, glued them to a piece of cardstock to give them more stability, pop dotted between layers and a finishing touch of stickles and a pearl.
I hope she tickles you as she does me. Thanks so much for looking =o)
Challenges -
Crafts and Me - Add a Flowers
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes

Gramma's Watches

I've been playing around with some old jewelry and watches. I was taking apart some watches my MIL gave me. I am thinking I can use the parts in some steampunk projects or maybe even make a mold from some to make charms out of fimo clay. Geesh, what did I get myself into? I've got itsy, bitsy gears spread all over my desk! But while in the midst of this I came across all of my Gramma's watches. Of course I couldn't take those apart but I wanted to do something with them so I could wear them. After being inspired by a picture on pinterest (you can see it here) I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Here's mine:

I cannot wait to show it to my brother. How much you wanna' bet we both cry?
Thanks for looking!

Fall Day

Hi everyone!! Are all of my US friends getting lots of rain this weekend? It sure has put a damper on the holiday weekend plans but not complaining! It could've been so much worse. I am praying for all of you that have been in the direct path of Isaac. Hopefully the other storms gathering out in the Atlantic will fizzle out before they reach land fall.
It somehow feels wrong to be posting about cards when so much devastation has taken place =o(
This is one of the cards I made yesterday with Fall Day from the September release at Whimsy Stamps. She is currently on sale for 20% off.

The sentiment is available here. It's still warm enough here to go barefoot and I love the imagery this sentiment creates for me.
I've had this punch from EK Success for awhile and really had to search to find a link to share but I finally found one and you can see it here. I inked the leaves by stamping my Ranger Distress pads in Vintage Photo, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick onto some waxed paper. (I don't own a craft mat, gasp..lol) Then giving them a fine mist of water and laying the punched panel into the ink. I did each color separately. Then I used a paint brush dipped into my Peeled Paint distress ink pad to add a few hints of green here and there. Lastly, I distressed the edges with Vintage photo. I just love the watercolor, random look this process achieves.
Thanks so much for looking and again, I pray you are warm, safe and in a dry place!
