Current WIP

I created this background last night and I wish you could see all the layers and textures.  This is one of those that's going to be hard to paint a face or flowers on! I have so many favorite little pieces of real estate it will be hard to cover them up. BUT if I've learned one thing it's that I can't be too precious with it or the next stages just don't turn out well.

Lot's of scratching into wet paint to reveal the layers underneath, that was a lot of fun!
Thanks for swinging by and I hope to add some more to soon!

A Beeswax Mixed Media Tag

I've had the bug to do encaustics for quite awhile now, but having a grandson living with us who had a trach always makes me very cautious about fumes. Well that, and the cost of a whole new line of art supplies. This was an easy approach to give it a try, and I have to admit, this was a lot of fun.

And I filmed the process if you want to take a look!

Freebie Art Journaling Words

Just a quick post to let you know that I've added some journaling words to the Freebie page. It's in a PNG format so you can print them on printed papers if desired.  These are meant to be cut apart but sometimes when I just pick out a few in a row such as "Art no Fear" I can get inspired for a whole painting =0)

Another Striped Neck Girl

I sketch these "Striped Necked Girls"pretty often and decided to go ahead and paint another one yesterday.
I started by transferring my sketch onto my background with graphite paper:
Then to start working on adding paint to her face and hair:
Once I get into the flow I pretty much forget everything else so I don't have any other "in progress" pics. Here's what she looks like all finished:
Here's some close ups:

This pic really shows how well the DecoArt Texture Fierro paste takes colored pencil!! LOVE!!! (I used Iron Brown)

Thanks so much for swinging by =0)

Loose Journal Cover

If you've seen some of my recent paintings then you'll know that I've been painting on 12x12 collaged scrapbook paper. I really love the substrate and it holds up well to all the textures, water, paints and mediums I throw at it (HUGE PLUS!!!)
So of course, next on the agenda is how to store them. (I had collaged a bunch of them at a time earlier this year). I decided to used some chipboard to create a folder type binder. Here's some pics:

And here's the products I used:
Chevon Roller - I can no longer find this one online anywhere!
Daley Rowney Gesso - Sold at many big box stores like Walmart, Michaels, etc
Daler Rowney FW Acrylic Inks (mixed with water in a spray bottle).
Alpha Stencil
Mini Splats Stencil by Crafters Workshop
